Dusk is one of Stellenbosch’s most celebrated fine-dining destinations, founded in 2022 by chefs Callan Austin and Darren Badenhorst on historic Plein Street. The main dining room is intimate and dimly lit, built around a Signature Tasting Experience that celebrates seasonality and storytelling through food, complemented by a considered à la carte menu.
Next door, Dawn by Dusk offers a fully private room for larger groups and events, drawn from the same kitchen and the same philosophy. Both rooms are available to hire for corporate functions, year-end celebrations and private events, each shaped entirely around your guest list and occasion.

THE Experience
Every private event at Dusk or Dawn is built around the same open kitchen and the same kitchen team that runs our nightly service. Guests watch dishes take shape rather than simply arrive on a plate, whether that is a course from our Signature Tasting Experience or a menu built specifically for your event.
Wine is chosen with the same care as the food. Our sommelier can pair each course individually, or, for groups looking for something more theatrical, our Pandora’s Box pairing keeps every glass a surprise until it is poured.
From a three-course working lunch to the full Signature Tasting Experience with bubbly on arrival, every package can be scaled to the size, budget and tone of your event, without losing the technique and storytelling Dusk is built on.
The Occasion
For companies, Dusk and Dawn offer something a generic function venue cannot: a kitchen that treats your year-end function or client dinner with the same rigour as a nightly tasting menu service. Whether it is a board dinner, a client entertainment evening or a full year-end celebration, the room is closed to everyone but your guest list.
For private celebrations, birthdays, anniversaries, engagements, the appeal is much the same: a room built entirely around your evening, with a menu and wine pairing shaped around the occasion rather than pulled from a standard function menu.
Dawn’s separate kitchen and twenty-two-seat table also make it a considered choice for product launches, brand showcases and press dinners looking for a setting with genuine culinary credibility behind it.
